About me
Hello! My name is Katy, and I am a recent graduate from Penn State. I graduated with a degree in journalism and a minor in English. I also have a business certificate because I wanted to educate myself on the ins and outs of entrepreneurship, marketing and finance, as I hope to establish a freelance writing business one day. I currently reside in Hershey, PA: "the sweetest place on Earth!"
I had the opportunity to cover a Penn State football game and film on the field last fall!
I love all kinds of writing, especially creative. I enjoy publishing original poems on my creative Instagram poetry blog. I've published poems and short stories in Penn State's literary magazines, and I am also currently working on self-publishing my first poetry book! I also love talking about grammar and editing. I've had experiences with publishing and working as a writing tutor, and I've found these to be very fulfilling.
When I'm not writing, I love listening to music, quality family, friend and pet time, dancing and working out. Fitness and staying active has always been a top priority for me, and I enjoy doing so in the outdoors. I am very interested in nature and like kayaking, swimming and hiking. I also enjoy traveling and will be embarking on a backpacking trip around Europe soon.
Writing is a significant part of my personality. I fell in love with writing in sixth grade. At the time, middle school was hard, and writing felt like my safe haven. I began writing in my rainbow "dream" journal and just kept writing. I became interested in broadcast after helping to start my high school's broadcast program (which has grown from five students to over 30 today!) These passions have followed me throughout college, and I hope to use the skills and talents I have gained pursuing these passions in my career.
